The colors of the Southwest have influenced my painting a great deal. There is no other blue as the blue of the New Mexico Sky, or the wild colors that we see in our sunsets. The colors and mountains of New Mexico have influenced my painting style for many years. I believe this comes from having to live away from them for several years in a wet and dreary climate, and getting to return to my native state.

I love color and I love the way the watermedia colors sing on the page or board on which I happen to be painting. I love the luminosity and transparency that watermedia affords more than any other media. I recently have added rice paper collage and acrylic paint to several of my works and I feel that this adds to the depth of some of my paintings. I sincerely hope that my love for New Mexico and the southwest is evident in my paintings.
